Language Leaders serve as both Language Table Leaders and Conversation Partners. They meet with students individually and in small groups to practice speaking the target language in an immersive environment. Language Leaders are responsible for leading a weekly language table, holding one-on-one appointments with students, and communicating effectively in the target language at a level each student can understand.
Requirements:

Demonstrate fluency in the target language and have the desire to share the language and culture with other students

Be a native speaker of the target language, a heritage speaker, or an acquired-language speaker, preferably one who has traveled abroad to a country which speaks the target language

Subject Tutors work directly with students individually and in small groups to help them become more confident and independent in their academic work. Tutors help students understand course material, evaluate their own study skills, and develop new learning strategies. They also refer students to other appropriate resources, including faculty members, study groups, success coaches, and advisors.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders plan interactive group sessions to help students master course content, improve their study skills, and develop new learning strategies. They attend each lecture of the designated course, collaborate with the instructor to identify objectives to review, develop lesson plans for each SI session, and host up to three SI sessions per week.
Requirements:
- Demonstrate mastery of the designated course content and have the ability to communicate it clearly in English
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including patience, empathy, active listening, and a friendly attitude
- Be a registered 体育菠菜大平台 student (both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply)
- Complete the designated course with a grade of B or above
- Have and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Have the ability to lead sessions both in-person and remotely using Zoom
- Be available to work 10 hours per week

Writing Tutors work one-on-one with students to build their confidence and independence as writers. Writing Tutors help students at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and outlining first drafts to revising final drafts. Tutors demonstrate effective writing strategies and familiarize students with online resources so they can find answers to their own questions. They also refer students to other appropriate resources, including faculty members, success coaches, and advisors. Writing Tutors frequently remark that their own writing improves considerably after learning how to give feedback to other writers.

Success Coaches help students evaluate their own academic skills, develop new learning strategies, and implement good academic habits. The most common areas of focus for Success Coaches are time management and study strategies, although they may work with students on a wide range of core academic skills. They also refer students to other campus resources, including faculty members, tutors, and advisors.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Hold individual sessions with students (by appointment only) to discuss challenges to their academic success and develop plans for improvement
- Serve as a peer mentor in the 体育菠菜大平台 Reach program during the fall semester and the Academic Comeback Program in the spring semester
- Connect students to campus resources to encourage persistence and retention
Requirements:
- Demonstrate a desire to promote academic success among 体育菠菜大平台 students
- Possess strong organization and time-management skills
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including patience, empathy, active listening, and a friendly attitude
- Maintain a supportive, non-judgmental perspective when helping students identify and overcome obstacles to their academic success
- Be a registered 体育菠菜大平台 student (both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply)
- Have and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Note: Students who have overcome their own academic struggles make especially effective Success Coaches. If your GPA does not meet this criterion, we encourage you to reach out to the Assistant Director of the Learning Commons, Emily Bahr.)
